Dubawi’s banner year continued on Saturday, 4 November when his daughter Wuheida added a second victory at the highest level to her record, with a brilliant win in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.
Running in the Godolphin blue, Wuheida broke well in the nine-furlong turf event and settled in third going into the first turn. She easily took over the lead from Zipessa at the top of the straight and powered home to win by a length as much the best.
Wuheida, who is trained by Charlie Appleby, burst to prominence on just her second start when she landed the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc day last year. In 2017, she has been wonderfully consistent since recovering from a setback early in the season, making the frame in a further four G1 contests including when second in the Falmouth Stakes on her seasonal reappearance.
Wuheida is out of the multiple G1 winner Hibaayeb (Singspiel), who won the Fillies’ Mile at two and the Yellow Ribbon Stakes at three. Hibaayeb has a yearling full-sister to Wuheida and is back in foal to Dubawi.
Dubawi has sired an astounding eight G1 winners this year, including fellow Prix Marcel Boussac heroine Wild Illusion, Gulfstream Park Handicap winner Almanaar and Prix Vermeille winner Bateel.
Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000 Oct 1, Special Live Foal.
