Just three days after his exciting two-year-old daughter Fundeghe added her first Stakes win in style, Raven’s Pass recorded another new Black Type winner when his son Riven Light easily took the Listed Listowel Stakes in Ireland.
Settled towards the rear of the field under Kevin Manning, Riven Light travelled well throughout the nine-furlong contest and sweeping to the front coming around the final turn, ran on superbly to win more easily than the three-quarter-length margin would suggest.
This was a sixth career victory for Riven Light, who could head to Australia for a tilt at the G1 Cox Plate next month.
Riven Light was bred by Stilvi Compania Financiera and is one of six winners out of Vivacity (Trempolino), a half-sister to no fewer than five Stakes winners including G1 Lockinge winner Keltos.
Raven’s Pass has now sired 21 individual Black Type winners including Big Duke, winner of three Group contests and third in the G1 Sydney Cup this year. His son Secret Number won the G2 Bosphorus Cup earlier this month and he also has G1 performer Via Ravenna (second in the Prix Rothschild) this year.
