Teofilo has been enjoying an excellent August and on the second day of the York Ebor festival Fleur Forsyte became his fourth Stakes winner of the month. James Fanshawe’s lightly raced three-year-old has been improving rapidly and came into the race on the back of her first Stakes place in the Chalice Stakes at Newmarket. Always travelling sweetly, she moved to the front on the bridle two furlongs from home and resisted all challengers to win by over two lengths.
A Normandie Stud homebred, she is a daughter of the Dr Fong mare Fleurissimo, a half-sister to the Conqueror Stakes heroine Dolores, who has produced three Group winners in Duncan, Samuel and Gretchen. Fleurissimo also has a yearling colt by Raven’s Pass.
This month Teofilo has also sired the G1 Prix Jean Romanet winner Ajman Princess, Classic-colt Massaat, who made an impressive seasonal debut in the G2 Hungerford Stakes, G3-winning filly Eziyra and the Group-placed juvenile Mildenberger.
