Sobetsu improved off her third-place finish in the G1 Nassau Stakes when she drew off to a two-and-a-half length victory in the G2 Shadwell Prix de la Nonette at Deauville August 19.
It was the second Group victory for the three-year-old daughter of Dubawi, who captured the G1 Prix Saint-Alary over the same racecourse in May.
Settled just off the pace by jockey James Doyle through the early stages of the race, Sobetsu took command with just over two furlongs to run and pulled away to win convincingly. The winning time for the 10-furlong contest was 2:05.94, eclipsing the old mark of 2:06 set by the mighty Detroit.
Bred in Great Britain by Darley, Sobetsu races as a homebred for Godolphin. Sobetsu is a daughter of the Stakes-winning Darshaan mare Lake Toya, a granddaughter of blue hen Doff The Derby, who produced two Classic winners in Generous and Imagine.
Dubawi has sired 14 individual Group winners this year, plus a further four Black type winners and 15 horses who have been placed at Stakes level. In addition to Sobetsu, Dubawi has sired 2017 G1 winners Zarak, Nezwaah, and Almanaar.
