Helmet’s two-year-old son Met Spectrum won his second race in as many starts on Saturday 1 July when taking the Listed Premio Giuseppe de Montel, run over 1500m in Milan. Coming with a sweeping run down the outside, he ran on really well to beat Fa Ul Sciur, a son of first-season sire Farhh, by a length with a gaping four-and-a-half-lengths back to the third.
Owned and bred by Scuderia Blueberry, Met Spectrum is a son of the Stakes-winning mare Mara Spectrum, who has now produced three Stakes performers from five runners. Mara Spectrum is a half-sister to the Italian 1,000 Guineas winner Dancer Destination, whose first foal Dancer Cross, a two-year-old by Cape Cross, capped a wonderful day for their connections when landing the Listed Premio Luciano Mantovani earlier in the evening.
Met Spectrum is Helmet’s first Stakes winner to come from his promising second crop that already includes eight winners. Five-length juvenile G1-winner Thunder Snow heads the first-crop that also includes Italian Classic hero Anda Muchacho.
