Elas Ruby, a progressive three-year-old daughter of Raven’s Pass, became a Stakes winner on Thursday 15 June when running out the very easy winner of the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes. Heading into the race on the back of a close fourth in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes, she was held up early in fourth in the ten furlong Newbury contest. Closing on the leaders in the straight, she took up the running a couple of furlongs from home, running on really well to win by three-and-three-quarter lengths from Ebbesbourne (Teofilo).
Owned and bred by Newsells Park Stud, she is out of the Stakes-placed Danehill Dancer-mare Elas Diamond, who is herself a daughter of the G3-winner and six-time G1-placed Ela Athena. Elas Diamond also has a filly foal this season by Derby winner Golden Horn.
Raven’s Pass is also sire this year of three-time Group winner Big Duke in Australia (last seen finishing a creditable third in the G1 Sydney Cup), French G3 winner Via Ravenna and multiple Stakes winner Greg Pass.
