Exceed And Excel’s five-year-old son First Among Equals added a fourth Stakes win to his record when landing the Listed Northam Stakes over five and a half furlongs at Northam, Australia on 7 May.
Jumping well from the stalls, First Among Equals was settled in midfield before drawing clear down the centre of the straight to finish a nose ahead of longtime leader Madassa.
Bred by P Sweeney, First Among Equals is out of the Stakes-winning mare Pride Of The Class, who has produced five winners from six foals to race. Pride Of The Class is herself a half-sister to Stakes winners Fulmonti and Majestical.
Exceed And Excel has sired 130 individual Stakes winners to date, with seven already this year. One of his leading runners this year is G2 winner Mr Stunning, who finished a very close second in today's G1 Chairman's Sprint Prize at Sha Tin. Exceed And Excel has also sired 2017 Dubai Group winners Championship, Morawij and Heavy Metal.
