Sepoy’s good run continues

Hilario becomes a new winner for his sire at Kempton

Hilario, a juvenile son of Sepoy, became a new winner for his freshman sire on Friday 2 September when running out the game winner of a six furlong maiden. Always going well on his second career start, he got the better of a prolonged battle with the G1-entered debutant Dubai One (Exceed And Excel) with his paternal half-brother Etikaal making a very promising debut back in third.

Bred by Mrs Elizabeth Grundy and bought by current connections for £160,000 as a yearling, he is a half-brother to three Stakes performers including top-class sprinters Deacon Blues and The Tin Man.

Sepoy sired his first Group winner last Saturday when Kilmah (who was his very first European winner), led from pillar to post to take the G3 Prestige Stakes, also at Goodwood. He is also sire of Stakes winner Baileys Showgirl, plus multiple winner Phijee.
