Raven’s Pass’s lightly-raced four-year-old son Richard Pankhurst landed his biggest career success on Saturday 13 August when coming from the back of the field to land the G2 Hungerford Stakes. Run over seven furlongs at Newbury, he was held up last early and making smooth headway on the bridle he wasn’t hard pressed to win by a length from the three-time Stakes winner Home Of The Brave.
This was the second Stakes victory for Richard Pankhurst after his thrilling juvenile triumph in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Bred by Rachel Hood and trained by her husband John Gosden, Richard Pankhurst is out of the winning Elmaamul mare Mainstay, a sister to Stakes winner Lateen Sails and from the family of Al Bahathri. Mainstay has also been responsible for producing last seasons G3-winning juvenile Crazy Horse.
Raven’s Pass this season has sired the star Italian colt Greg Pass, the European Free Handicap winner Ibn Malik, and a pair of three-year-old Group fillies in Rosay and Aquila Solitaria.
