Dabyah impresses at Newmarket

Daughter of Sepoy makes a wining debut over seven furlongs

John Gosden introduced a potentially smart juvenile on Saturday 9 July when Dabyah won with a lot to spare at Newmarket. The daughter of Sepoy was held up early before making smooth headway to take on the pacesetting Dubara a couple of furlongs from home. After going clear, she showed great resolution to hold off the fast finishing Amabilis close home, the pair finishing six lengths clear of the third.

Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, she is a daughter of the Machiavellian mare Samdaniya and a half-sister to multiple-winner Samtu (Teofilo). Samdaniya is a granddaughter of the excellent mare Lucayan Princess who produced four Stakes winners including Luso, Warrsan and Needle Gun.

Sepoy has now sired three European-bred winners after Kilmah, who ran an excellent race yesterday to finish a close fourth in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes and the three-length maiden winner Baileys Showgirl.
