Bateel, a progressive four-year-old daughter of Dubawi, landed her first Stakes victory when taking the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket. Run over a mile-and-a-half on rain-softened ground, she was held up in her customary manner, before making good headway on the bridle and running right away for a two-and-a-quarter length triumph.
Bred by Al Asayl Bloodstock, Bateel is the second Stakes winner to be produced by the Chief’s Crown mare Attractive Crown after the Prix Charles Laffitte heroine Basemah. A winner in both Ireland and the US, Attractive Crown was also placed in the G2 Pretty Polly Stakes.
Dubawi has now sired 14 Stakes winners in 2016 and his second in two days after Nezwaah’s easy triumph at Newcastle yesterday evening. Amongst his 14 are the highest-rated European-trained runner of 2016 in Postponed and The Queen’’s Royal Ascot G2-winner Dartmouth.
