Consistent Dubawi filly Nezwaah was sent off a short-priced favourite to take the Listed Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle on 24 June and she certainly did not disappoint as she cruised home to win the ten-furlong contest by three lengths.
The Roger Varian-trained filly was settled towards the rear early on under Harry Bentley and ridden along approaching the home straight, progressed smoothly and accelerated impressively close to home to ease past her rivals and win easily.
This was Nezwaah’s third career victory, with her only defeat to date a creditable third in the Listed Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury last time out.
Nezwaah is the first foal to race out of the Stakes-winning Dansili mare Ferdoos, who has a yearling by Shamardal plus a full sister to Nezwaah at foot.
Dubawi has now sired 13 individual Black type performers so far this year, including G1 Coronation Stakes and G1 Dubai Sheema Classic winner Postponed, last week’s G2 Hardwick Stakes winner Dartmouth and Time Test – currently favourite to take next Saturday’s G1 Eclipse.
