Slickly, one of France’s leading stallions, sired a new Stakes winner when his progressive son Apilobar easily landed the Listed Prix Maurice Caillault by three lengths at Saint-Cloud. Trained by Fabrice Vermeulen, the three-year-old colt was winning his fourth race in his last five starts after victories at Le Croise-Laroche and Cagnes-sur-Mer (x2).
Bred by S.C.E.A. des Prairies and J.P. Daniel, Apilobar is one of two winners bred out of the Take Risks mare Popee, who was second in the Listed Prix de la Seine at Longchamp.
Slickly, who is famed for siring tough, hard working horses, has sired 39 runners that have earned €100,000 or more. Amongst his Group winners is the four-time G1 scorer Meandre.
