Trading at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale was set alight late on the second day when Moyglare Stud had to go all the way to €2 million to secure a beautiful daughter of Raven’s Pass.
Impeccably bred, the filly is out of the Group-placed Sadler’s Wells mare Spirit of Tara, making her a half-sister to Dubai Millennium’s high-class performer Echo Of Light (who was himself an Orby Sale topper when selling for €1.2 million back in 2003). The mare is herself a half-sister multiple Classic winner Salsabil and fellow G1 winner and sire Marju.
Earlier in the sale, New Approach’s full sister to Dawn Approach and fellow high-class performer Herald The Dawn went to BBA Ireland for €480,000 to become the fourth-highest priced filly of the sale.
Exceed And Excel was responsible for the third-highest priced colt when his son of Champion filly Aoife Alainn was bought by Roger Varian for €400,000. He was offered for sale by Deer Forest Stud.
The first yearlings by Casamentocontinued to prove popular, with his six sold averaging just over eight times his covering fee of €5,000.
