Stakes victory for Speedy Boarding
Speedy Boarding, a three-year-old daughter of Shamardal, gained a valuable Stakes victory when landing the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes at Newbury. Run over a mile and a quarter, she was always travelling well on the bridle before making her challenge two furlongs from home to win a shade cosily by three-quarters-of-a-length. Very lightly-raced, she has now won her last two starts in a three race career and holds a G1 entry in the Irish Oaks.
Bred by Meon Valley Stud, Speedy Boarding is a daughter of the Stakes-winning Diktat mare Dash To The Front, a granddaughter of the G1-winning miler Miligram. Dash To The Front also has a juvenile colt by Dubawi that was sold as a yearling for 800,000Gns.
Shamardal has been enjoying a tremendous 2015 with Speedy Boarding becoming his 30th Stakes performer. Amongst this number are the star performers Able Friend, who is due to line up in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot next week, G1 winner Dan Excel, and 1,000 Guineas second Lucida, a leading candidate for the G1 Coronation Stakes next Friday.
