G2 QTC Cup to Ball Of Muscle

Dubawi’s son claims second black type victory

The quickest from the gates, Dubawi four-year-old Ball Of Muscle went straight to the lead from the inside barrier and kept that position throughout to claim the G2 QTC Cup at Doomben on May 30.

A track record winner of the Listed Takeover Target Stakes last campaign, the Joe Pride-trained gelding was a last start second in the G2 Victory Stakes at the Gold Coast behind fellow Dubawi four-year-old Srikandi.

Cruising along at solid tempo, jockey Glyn Schofield asked for an effort from his mount rounding the home turn and he kicked, holding off the late charge of That’s A Good Idea with Denman’s last start Listed winner Kuro in third.

Bred by Mike Ryan, Ball Of Muscle is a full-brother to G1 winner Tiger Tees as well as a half-brother to the G1 Darley Classic winner Terravista and Singapore’s multiple G1 winner Super Easy. Parfore, the dam of Ball Of Muscle is the dam of eight winners from eight to the races, five of which are stakes winners.

The sire of 93 Stakes winners, including 17 G1 winners, Dubawi has been represented by five G1 winners this year alone highlighted by Al Kazeem, Night Of Thunder and Prince Bishop.
