Progressive mare Don’t Be wins the Conqueror Stakes
Darley stallions sired the first two home in the Listed Conqueror Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday 2 May when progressive mare Don’t Be (Cape Cross) just got the better of Crowley’s Law (Dubawi) by a short-head. Originally trained in France, Don’t Be has been a revelation on the AW this winter, reeling off five straight victories between November and February. Back on turf, she was recording her first Stakes victory in today’s mile contest.
Bred by P E Barrett, Don’t Be is a daughter of the Group-placed juvenile Faslen, herself a granddaughter of the Champion Sleepytime. Faslen has produced two winners, Don’t Be and last seasons winning juvenile Star Citizen (New Approach).
Cape Cross, who stands at a fee of €20,000, has now sired five Stakes winners in 2015 including a pair of impressive three-year-olds in Karpino, the unbeaten winner of the G3 Dr Busch Memorial, and the Listed Feilden Stakes hero Golden Horn.
