Group glory for Al Kazeem
Al Kazeem, the admirable son of Dubawi, landed his seventh Group success on Monday April 6 when taking the G2 Prix d’Harcourt at Longchamp. The winner of three G1’s in 2013 before an abortive stud career, Al Kazeem bounced back last season to win the G3 Winter Hill Stakes before closing out the year with a narrow second in the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot.
A close third behind Al Kazeem was the progressive Teofilo filly Fate, whose never nearer effort bodes well for a successful season.
Bred by Mr and Mrs Deer, Al Kazeem is out of the Darshaan mare Kazeem, herself a daughter of Group-winning mare Kanz. Kazeem has a full-brother yearling to Al Kazeem and is carrying to the same stallion again and due to give birth later this month.
Dubawi has sired now sired 19 Black type performers this year, headed by G1 winners Prince Bishop, winner of last weekend's Dubai World Cup, Hunter’s Light and Shamal Wind, plus Group winners Mubtaahij, Catkins, Safety Check and Amber Orchid. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £125,000 October 1st SLF.
