Hunter’s Light maintained his perfect 2015 Meydan record in superb style on 19 February, running out the easy winner of the ten-furlong Listed Dubai Millennium Stakes.
Settled off the pace under James Doyle, the Godolphin entire was always travelling well and still looked to be cruising as the field entered the home straight. Once asked to quicken, he soon took the lead and was never challenged from then on, running on superbly to win by a length and three-quarters.
A Darley homebred, Hunter’s Light is out of the winning Barathea mare Portmanteau, also dam of Manduro’s useful performer Linda Radlett. Portmanteau is out of a half-sister to Darshaan.
He is one of no fewer than 11 Black type performers already this year for Dubawi, who is also sire of G2-winning duo Safety Check and Catkins. In 2014, Dubawi sired 19 individual Group winners, ten of whom won or placed at G1 level.
