Ninth Stakes success for brilliant daughter of Dubawi
Dubawi mare Catkins recorded her 13th career victory and her ninth at Stakes level in winning the G2 NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Rosehill, February 7.
After settling just off the speed in the early stages, jockey Hugh Bowman made his move at the top of the straight and Catkins had to fight determinedly to overhaul Lilliburlero in the shadows of the post and make it back-to-back victories in the race.
Bred by Owen Carter, Catkins is the second foal from Catbird mare Salix Caprea, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rally.
Dubawi has already sired four Black type winners this year including recent Meydan G2 winner Safety Check. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £125,000 (Oct 1st SLF), alongside his G1-winning son Poet's Voice who stands at £12,000 (Oct 1st SLF).
