True Story outclasses his rivals at Meydan
Godolphin’s True Story, second in the G2 Dante Stakes and winner of the Listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket last year, returned to winning ways in spectacular fashion on the opening night of the Dubai World Cup Carnival on 8 January as the son of Manduro romped to victory in the Listed Singspiel Stakes.
Settled in second position under James Doyle, Saeed bin Suroor’s charge travelled well throughout the nine-furlong contest and once asked to quicken as he entered the home straight, soon put the race to bed as he eased clear and crossed the line over three lengths ahead of Mushreq (who won this race last year).
A Darley homebred, True Story is out of the Darshaan mare Tanzania, herself a daughter of G1 winner Rosefinch and a granddaughter of none other than the great Oh So Sharp. Tanzania is currently in foal to fellow Darley stallion Exceed And Excel.
Manduro, sire of G1-winning fillies Charity Line and Ribbons plus Mandaean – unbeaten at two and winner of the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud, stands at Haras du Logis at a fee of €7,000 October 1st SLF.
