Amber Sky sprints to G1 victory at Meydan
Exceed And Excel has a new sprinting superstar after his son Amber Sky stormed to victory in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan.
Soon in front, the five-year-old (who is trained in Hong Kong by P F Yiu) was never headed once taking the lead and flew home to win the five-furlong contest in superb fashion.
Amber Sky was last seen winning the Centenary Sprint (a local G1 contest) at Sha Tin on 26 January.
Bred in Australia by O E & D R Pope Pty Ltd, Amber Sky is out of the G2 winner Truly Wicked (also dam of Bernardini’s successful daughter Crystal River).
Australia's reigning Champion sire, Exceed And Excel has now sired nine individual G1 winners including Helmet (who now stands alongside his sire), and this year’s Blue Diamond winner Earthquake - a hot favourite for next weekend’s Golden Slipper.
