Akeed Mofeed keeps on rolling
Dubawi's high-class son Akeed Mofeed added to his already superb record in Hong Kong on Sunday February 2 when victorious in the Centenary Vase, a local G3-contest. Conceding weight to the rest of the field thanks to his last time out victory in the G1 Hong Kong Cup, he came with his customary late run in the straight to record a narrow, but comfortable, victory.
Akeed Mofeed was originally trained in Ireland by John Oxx, where he won the Listed Platinum Stakes as a three-year-old, having broken his maiden by no fewer than five lengths at two. He transferred to Hong Kong at the end of 2012.
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Akeed Mofeed is out of the Tiger Hill mare Wonder Why, a half-sister to two Stakes winners in Whispered Secret and Wells Present. She is from the immediate female family of Hernando, and also full-brother yearling to Akeed Mofeed and is due again to Dubawi this year.
Akeed Mofeed is one of 12 top-flight winners sired by Dubawi, with five coming in 2013. These include three-time G1-winner Al Kazeem, top international sprinter Lucky Nine, and Dubai winner Hunter's Light. Dubawi stands alongside his G1-winning son Poet's Voice (fee of £12,000) at Dalham Hall Stud and will command a fee of £100,000 Oct 1st, SLF, this season.
