Charity Line lands the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio
Manduro’s three-year-old daughter Charity Line maintained her perfect record in the best possible style on 27 October, landing the G1 Premio Lydia Tesio at Rome’s Cappannelle racecourse to extend her unbeaten run to six.
Settled just off the pace under her regular jockey Fabio Branca, the Stefano Botti-trained filly took up the running soon after entering the home straight and held off a sustained challenge from eventual second Path Wind to win by a neck, with the pair two and a half lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Having broken her maiden on her only racecourse appearance at two, Charity Line made a successful reappearance in March before stepping up to Stakes level six weeks later when she won the Listed Premio Baggio by three lengths. She then romped to a four-and-a-half-length victory in the Italian Oaks and won by no fewer than five lengths on her last start.
Bred by Razza del Velino SRL, Charity Line is out of the Stakes-winning Hernando mare Holy Moon, dam of another Italian Oaks winner in Cherry Collect.
Manduro has enjoyed a thoroughly successful year, siring 16 individual Black type performers, five of whom have won at Stakes level. He is also sire of another G1 winner in Mandaean, plus G2 winner and G1 performer Bonfire and fellow Group winners Fractional and Trois Lunes. Charity Line was his second Stakes winner of the day, following Meerjungfrau's victory in the seven-furlong Listed race at Hannover.
Her victory rounded off a superb afternoon for the Darley stallions, who recorded four Stakes winners during the afternoon, with Dubawi and Shirocco both adding new Stakes winners to their records. Dubawi has sired four Stakes winners this weekend alone.
