Third Stakes winner inside a week for Manduro

Kolonel adds a second Black type win to his record with victory in the Kolner Herbst-Preis

Manduro, who recorded a Stakes-race double on Sunday when his daughter Donna Prassede and son Drive To Hell both added Listed victories to their records and remained unbeaten in the process, recorded his third Black type winner in less than seven days on 3 October.

His four-year-old son Kolonel added a second Stakes win to his record when landing the Listed Kolner Herbst-Preis, run over seven furlongs at Cologne. Breaking smartly from the stalls, Mario Hofer’s charge was sent straight to the front and stayed there for the entire race, holding off a sustained challenge from Baiadera in the closing stages to win impressively. His paternal half-brother Royal Fox kept on well to finish third.

This was Kolonel’s fourth career win and second at this level, following his victory in the Bronzene Peitsche at Baden-Baded back in May.

Bred by Rolf Brunner, he is out of the Stakes-placed Swain mare Kristin’s Charm and is from the family of G1 winners Dance Number, Private Account and Assatis.

Manduro has sired five individual Stakes winners this year, including Italian Oaks winner Charity Line, unbeaten in five starts.
