First foal for Sepoy
The first southern hemisphere foal by Australian Champion two-year-old and World Champion three-year-old sprinter Sepoy was born at Edinburgh Park Stud on August 4.
A beautifully-conformed chestnut filly, she is the first foal out of Listed Morphettville Guineas winner and G1 Queensland Oaks runner-up Becerra, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Episode.
"She is a big strong leggy foal and she and the mare are both doing well,” Edingburgh Park’s Ian Smith said.
After claiming the G1 Blue Diamond-Golden Slipper double as a two-year-old, Sepoy was undefeated in five starts in the Spring of his three-year-old year. Among those five wins was a scintillating victory over older horses in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley and a triumph in the G1 Coolmore Stakes up the Flemington Straight on Derby day.
Sepoy stood at Dalham Hall Stud this year and attracted a superb book that included no fewer than 97 Stakes winners, or their dams, daughters or siblings.
