Second juvenile G1 winner for Teofilo

Teofilo’s two-year-old son Loch Garman certainly demonstrated his progressiveness at Saint-Cloud on 1 November, swooping late to win the G1 Criterium International on only his second start.

Having first caught the eye just eight days ago when winning by almost three lengths in a decent Navan maiden, Jim Bolger’s homebred took this brisk step up in class perfectly in his stride when coming from behind and flying home to take the one-mile contest by half a length from Anna’s Pearl.

Loch Garman is out of the winning Giant’s Causeway mare Irish Question and is from the family of G1 winner Eva Luna. He joins an exclusive group of horses who have won at the highest level so early in their careers, a group which also includes Authorized, who won the Racing Post Trophy on his second start.

He becomes the second two-year-old G1 winner for Teofilo, following Parish Hall’s win in last year’s Dewhurst Stakes. He also concludes a magnificent juvenile season for his trainer, who is of course also responsible for unbeaten multiple G1 winner Dawn Approach (New Approach).

Teofilo is now sire of four Stakes-winning two-year-olds this year, including G1 Fillies’ Mile second Roz, and Group-winning duo Havana Gold and Trading Leather.
