Second stakes victory for Manduro colt

Three-year-old Fractional strikes for the fourth time in five starts to win the G3 Prix Quincey

Fractional, a three-year-old first-crop son of Manduro, landed his first Group victory on Sunday when winning the G3 Prix Quincey over a mile at Deauville.

The Andre Fabre-trained colt won the Listed Prix de Tourgeville over course and distance on 7 August and seemed unfazed by the drastic difference in conditions underfoot since then, with the Tourgeville having been run on heavy ground.

Fractional has now won four of his five starts, first getting off the mark at Maisons-Laffitte on 6 June. His only defeat came when third in the G2 Prix Eugene Adam in July, with that race having been won by subsequent G1 Secretariat Stakes winner Bayrir.

Bred by Darley, Fractional is out of the Royal Academy mare Sharp Point, who is also the dam of dual French Group 3 winner Needlecraft, by Mark Of Esteem.

Manduro, who stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, has enjoyed particular success in France, where his Group scorers include G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Mandaean and G3 Prix Vanteaux winner Trois Lunes. He is also the sire of G2 Dante Stakes winner Bonfire and Italian Listed winner Sopran Montieri.
