World leader
Dubawi, already established as one of the most successful young sires in history, saw his star rise further still on 31 March when his first-crop son Monterosso recorded a sensational win for Godolphin in the Dubai World Cup at Meydan.
Settled just off the pace under jockey Mickael Barzalona, the five-year-old entire took up the running entering the home straight and stormed clear of his rivals to win by three lengths. He provided Godolphin with their sixth victory in the prestigious contest. Capponi finished second to provide Godolphin with the 1-2 in the race.
Bred by Darley, Monterosso is out of the G1-winning mare Porto Roca, who recently produced a full sister to today's Dubai World Cup winner. She is due to return to Dubawi this year.
Dubawi, one of the most successful young stallions in the world, has now sired eight individual G1 winners and a further 15 Group winners from just three crops. He stands at Dalham Hall Stud at fee of £75,000 October 1st Special live foal.
