Iffraaj – not only Europe’s leading first-season sire by also leading sire of two-year-olds – recorded his 23rd individual winner on 11 August when Mr Perceptive made all to land the seven-furlong maiden at Sandown.
Brought over to the inside under Richard Hughes, the Richard Hannon-trained colt set the pace throughout and kept on impressively when hard pressed in the closing stages to win by a head from Gay Gallivanter, with the pair a full five lengths clear of the field.
Bred by Barnane Stud, Mr Perceptive is out of the winning Waajib mare Astuti, also dam of Listed winner Flash McGahon. The dam is a half-sister to three Black type winners, including smart sprinter The Tatling.
Also on Wednesday, Cape Cross filly Mudaaraah added further Black type to her CV when third in the Listed Upavon Fillies’ Stakes at Salisbury.
