Two winners in two days for Layman

French-trained pair takes first-crop sire’s tally to six

Allez Les Bleus and Kajsa Kavat became the fifth and sixth winners from the first crop of Layman, their victories coming just 26 hours apart at Deauville on Friday and at Le Touquet on Saturday.

Bred in partnership by Patrick Barbe and Earl Truhon, Allez Les Bleus made an impressive debut to win the 1300m Prix de la Gatine by four lengths. She is out of Atlantique, by Alzao and runs in the colours of Haras de Bouquetot.

Kajsa Kavat, bred by Investment AB Rustningen from the Selkirk mare Territorial, won Le Touquet's 1400m maiden by two lengths and was successful at the third attempt, having shown improvement since her debut in April.

Layman’s first winner was Gerash, who has followed up her victory on 2 April with a second on 30 May.

The Darley first-season sires are showing promise, with Iffraaj leading the way on 14 winners, Librettist on eight, including Thursday’s G2 July Stakes winner Libranno. Layman has now had six winners and Byron has recorded four.
