Darley stallion Singspiel sired his twelfth individual G1 winner on 26 September when his two-year-old daughter Hibaayeb broke her maiden in tremendous style, landing the Fillies’ Mile on QEII day at Ascot.
The Clive Brittain-trained filly was settled off the early pace set by Sent From Heaven and making her move on the rail close to home, quickened into the lead and won the £200,000 contest by three-quarters of a length.
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock, Hibaayeb – who runs in the colours of Mohammed Al Nabouda - is out of the winning Lion Cavern mare Lady Zonda, now dam of two winners from three foals to race including the Stakes-placed Diktat filly May Meeting. She is from the family of the great Oh So Sharp. Placed on all of her previous starts, Hibaayeb was beaten just half a length and a quarter of a length on her last two outings. Her victory has earned her quotes of around 20-1 for next year’s Oaks.
Hibaayeb's Halling half-brother is due to be offered as Lot 1291 at next month's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2.
She becomes the third winner at the highest level this year for Singspiel, following Dar Re Mi’s victories in the Pretty Polly Stakes and the Yorkshire Oaks; and Eastern Anthem’s win in the Dubai Sheema Classic.
Also on Saturday at Ascot, trainer David Simcock celebrated his second Stakes winner by a Darley stallion in two days when Dubai Destination's three-year-old daughter Ahla Wasahl swept to victory in the Listed Rosemary Stakes.
Settled in mid-division under Ahmed Ajtebi, Ahla Wasahl moved up with two furlongs left to run and taking the lead inside the final furlong, kept to her task well to record a half-length victory over Alsace Lorraine. Her trainer indicated after the race that she could have one more run this season before being heading to Dubai for next year's Carnival.
Bred by Dachel Stud, Ahla Wasahl is out of the G2-placed Seattle Slew mare In Full Cry, making her a half-sister to Private Seductress – dam of G1 winner Menhoubah.
Dubai Destination has now sired 70 winners this year, including fellow Stakes winners Parthenon and Maid For Music.
