Palace Pier was an exceptional racehorse: unbeaten at two, winner of the St James's Palace and Jacques le Marois at three and added a further three top-flight victories to his record at four in the Lockinge, Queen Anne and Jacques le Marois (again!). He was twice crowned European Champion Miler after two near-perfect seasons and was allotted a lofty Timeform rating of 132.
Upon his retirement to Dalham Hall Stud, Palace Pier was duly rewarded with a 154-strong first book of mares that included 19 G1 winners or producers with his resultant foals including siblings to Farhh, Anmaat, Cracksman, Dream Castle, Regional and Light Infantry plus sons and daughters of Integral, Great Heavens, Speedy Boarding, Incarville and Intricately.
The resultant foals have just turned two and as they prepare to step onto the racecourse, the talk from trainers could not be more positive.
George Boughey said, "I have a nice Palace Pier colt out of G2 and dual Listed winner Unforgettable Filly. He has a great attitude, and I couldn't be happier with him. He looks a runner and that's what matters."
"I have two Palace Piers and I'm very happy with them", said Ed Walker. "They are both athletic, forward-going horses that are showing me the right signs. It is hard to imagine they won’t be winning races this year."
Francis-Henri Graffard is equally impressed, commenting, "The two Palace Piers I train have settled in well and have great attitudes. They’re very good moving, straightforward horses. I am looking forward to taking them to the races."
“We are lucky enough to have three Palace Pier two-year-olds. They are lovely types who have plenty of quality and are doing everything right.” said Archie Watson.
William Knight said of his colt out of Patina, “I have one Palace Pier he is a lovely scopey colt with a great attitude. I will definitely be looking at them come the Breeze Up sales.”
James Horton described his colt out of Night of Light as a “Strong, well-made colt who loves his work. The more we give him the better he gets. He has a great mind and looks like he should be a sharp early two-year-old”.
"I have two two-year-olds in my yard by Palace Pier: a filly and a colt. Both are forward going and precocious types. Everything they’ve done to date has pleased me, they both have a lot of class and a great attitude. I am very encouraged from what I’ve seen." said Alice Haynes
Palace Pier is standing the current season at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £32,000, Oct 1, SLF. If you are interested in sending a mare to him in 2025, please contact a member of the Nominations team.
