Johnmanderville and Luxuria continued the excellent week for their sire Kheleyf when winning at Hamilton and Lingfield respectively on Tuesday, to give the young stallion three winners in five days following the victory of Cornish Rose on Friday evening.
Kheleyf has now sired nine winners of 12 races, including Listed victrix Percolator and has wrestled the lead away from fellow Darley sire Exceed And Excel in the first-season sires' table in Britain and Ireland by number of individual winners. Exceed And Excel, who has sired eight European winners and is set to be crowned champion freshman in Australia, is ahead on prize-money, thanks mainly to the exploits of his sons Flashmans Papers and Spin Cycle at Royal Ascot.
Johnmanderville was bred by Natton House Thoroughbreds and Mark Woodall and is a son of the Charnwood Forest mare Lady's Walk. In four starts he has now won and been placed twice, notably when third to the highly regarded Waffle, who is another first-crop winner for Kheleyf.
Luxuria was making just her second start for the Richard Hannon stable. She was bred by Calley House UK from Luxuria (Suave Dancer) and is a half-sister to Listed-winning juvenile Sweepstake.
