Dartmouth (Dubawi), last seen finishing second to his paternal half-brother Erupt in the G1 Canadian International, opened his 2017 account in exciting fashion on 19 May when taking the G2 Yorkshire Cup in a thrilling finish.
Settled just off the pace under Ryan Moore, the five-year-old entire momentarily looked short of racing room as the field began to quicken for home but once switched out, he accelerated superbly to win by a neck.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and owned by HM The Queen, Dartmouth won both the G3 John Porter and G3 Ormonde Stakes last year, en route to victory in the G2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, a race he will now bid to win again this year.
Dartmouth is out of the Group-winning Galileo mare Galatee, also dam of fellow G2 winner Manatee plus Stakes-winning filly Gaterie.
Dubawi has now sired 23 individual Stakes horses this year, seven of whom have won at Group level including G1-winning duo Sobetsu and Almanaar.
Dubawi stands at Dalham Hall Stud at a fee of £250,000 October 1st SLF.
