Following the successful launch of the Darley CLUB for the 2016 breeding season, three exciting new stallions will join the CLUB in 2017.
Buratino (Exceed And Excel), the G2 Coventry Stakes victor who was such a precocious, tough juvenile, will stand at Kildangan Stud, Ireland for €5,000 CLUB terms. Toormore (Arakan), Champion two-year-old and a six-time Group winner, will stand at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket for £5,000 CLUB terms. Bow Creek (Shamardal), a multiple G2-winning miler, will stand at Haras du Logis, France for €4,000 CLUB terms. Nominations to all three stallions will also be available on Darley’s standard October 1st SLF terms.
The terms of the CLUB remain the same: pay upfront for one nomination to any of the three new CLUB stallions and you can breed to him in his second and third seasons for free. If you use him in all three seasons, you will receive a loyalty bonus of a free lifetime breeding right to that stallion.
Last year saw the launch of the Darley CLUB with Outstrip, Hunter’s Light, French Navy and Fulbright. All four stallions were in demand with breeders, with Outstrip and Hunter’s Light proving particularly popular.
Sam Bullard, Director of Darley Stallions, commented: “We were delighted with the success of the Darley CLUB on its launch last year. The initiative of offering breeders the opportunity to secure a lasting stake in the future of an exciting young stallion was very well received, and we are looking forward to welcoming back all those breeders who bought into our CLUB16 stallions and now receive their free nomination.
“The new stallions in CLUB17 are offered on the same fantastic terms. All three stallions were high-class, tough and consistent on the racecourse and offer breeders the combination of performance, pedigree and class that we strive to offer on Darley’s competitive roster worldwide.
Buratino, who was higher rated than his close relative Danehill Dancer, proved himself among the top two-year-olds of last season. His CV is topped by a magnificent victory in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in which he defeated the leading juvenile Air Force Blue. That victory came ten days after he trounced the field in the Listed Woodcote Stakes at Epsom, and he would go on to finish second, beaten just half a length, in the G1 Middle Park Stakes as well as being third in the G1 Phoenix Stakes.
Toormore (pictured) holds the honour of being the only Champion juvenile ever trained by Richard Hannon Snr, an accolade he earned in no small part with victory in the G1 National Stakes, having already beaten Outstrip in the G2 Vintage Stakes. He went on to prove himself a model of consistency, winning Group races in each of his three subsequent seasons of racing. These included the G3 Craven Stakes in which he beat G1 winners The Grey Gatsby and Postponed, the G2 Lennox Stakes at four, and the G2 Sandown Mile this year.
Bow Creek also maintained a high level of form throughout several seasons of racing, proving himself an ultra-tough and progressive performer. His victory in the G2 Celebration Mile at three was in a faster time than Raven’s Pass, Cape Cross and Medicean, and he went on to defeat six G1 horses in the G2 Solonaway Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend. In his final season of racing, he defeated no less than seven G1 winners when winning the G2 Peter Young Stakes in Australia.
