They can't catch Catkins
Dubawi filly Catkins claimed her second Stakes win with a tenacious all-the-way effort in the Listed P J Bell Stakes over 1200m at Canterbury, Australia, April 17.
Jumping from an outside barrier, the three-year-old filly showed blistering speed to cross the field and lead after 200m.
Despite being challenged several times in the straight, Catkins fought bravely and proved too strong, prevailing by a head in a driving finish.
Catkins, who won her first Stakes race in March in the Listed Fireball Handicap at Rosehill, is the second foal of Catbird mare Salix Caprea, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rally.
Dubawi, who stands the current season at a fee of £75,000 October 1st SLF, is the sire of 52 Stakes winners, nine of which have won at the elite level. These include 2,000 Guineas hero Makfi, Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso and Poet's Voice who won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and stands alongside his sire at Dalham Hall Stud for a fee of £12,000.
