First-season sire Librettist recorded his tenth individual winner on 30 September when Godolphin juvenile Auden took the one-mile maiden on the opening day of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting.
Racing off the early pace, Auden moved up to second with two furlongs left to run and taking the lead a furlong out, kept to his task well to win by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Darley, Auden is out of the Diesis mare Moyesii, making him a half-brother to G1-winning duo Kirklees and Mastery. The latter, who won last year’s St Leger, is by fellow Darley sire Sulamani, who stands alongside Librettist at Haras du Logis.
Librettist is also sire of dual G2 winner Libranno, plus multiple winners Leiba Leiba and Major Conquest.
Also on Thursday at Newmarket, Surrey Star (Dubawi) was beaten by the narrowest of margins in the G3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes.
