Superb season continues for Night Of Thunder

Nighteyes flies home at Naas to land the Listed Yeomantown Stud Stakes and become her in-form sire’s newest Black Type winner

Night Of Thunder’s 2024 season has been nothing short of sensational, leading the way in Europe by winners from his current Classic crop. On Wednesday, 24 July Nighteyes became the latest three-year-old Stakes winner for him this year when scorching to victory in the Listed Yeomanstown Stud Stakes at Naas.

Settled off the pace early on in the six-furlong contest, David O’Meara’s charge looked to have plenty to do as the field quickened for home. But once the gap appeared, she demonstrated a blistering turn of foot to sweep past her rivals on the stands side rail and eventually won by three lengths. This was her fourth career victory.

Nighteyes was bred by Owenstown Bloodstock and is out of the Group-winning Fast Company mare Penny Pepper, a half sister to Art Power.

Night Of Thunder has 17 Stakes performers to his name this year, including his three-year-old colt Economics, the very easy G2 Dante winner at York, plus unbeaten juvenile filly Fairy Godmother, sensational winner of the G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.
