First-season sire Night Of Thunder has been enjoying a purple patch of late and on Wednesday, 3 July he sired his fifth new winner in eight days when his son Thunderspeed posted an impressive debut victory at Deauville.
Settled just off the early pace, Thunderspeed responded well once asked to quicken and ran on superbly to win by a length and three quarters.
Owned and bred by Ecurie Gribomont, Thunderspeed is out of the Cape Cross mare Marmoom Flower, a five-time winner herself. She is a half sister to New Approach’s juvenile Stakes winner Parish Boy and is from the same family as Coronet, who became Dubawi’s 40th G1 winner on Sunday.
Night Of Thunder has the best winner to runner ratio of any first-season sire in the UK or Ireland and his first winners include the 90+ rated duo Sun Power and Wild Thunder.
