Just hours after Teofilo’s son Palentino landed the G1 Australian Guineas at Randwick, his son Special Fighter took his sire’s tally of G1 winners into double figures when running out the gutsy winner of the Al Maktoum Challenge R3 at Meydan.
Sent straight to the front under jockey Fernando Jara, the five-year-old entire dictated the pace throughout the ten-furlong contest and once he was asked to quicken for home, left the field in his wake as he eased clear and crossed the line three lengths in front.
Special Fighter recorded his first Stakes win over the same course and distance in the Listed Entisar last December and won the Meydan Sobha by no fewer than five lengths this January.
Special Fighter is out of the G2-winning Machiavellian mare Susu, who has produced four winners from four foals to race.
Teofilo has already sired eight Black type performers in 2016, including the aforementioned Palentino, plus G1-placed Kermadec. Last year, he sired nine G1 performers and 41 Group or Stakes horses, headed by Irish 1,000 Guineas and Yorkshire Oaks winner Pleascach.
Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000 October 1st SLF.
