Son of New Approach brings up a Darley-sired quadruple at Sandown
Sandown proved a very happy hunting ground for the progeny of the Darley stallions on Friday and Tha’Ir (New Approach) made it a superb four winners from four runners when landing the feature race of the day, the Listed Gala Stakes.
Tha’Ir jumped out smartly from the stalls and took the lead straight away. From that point, he was never headed and kept to his task superbly to win the ten-furlong contest by two and a half lengths.
The day's other Darley-sired winners were 2yo colt Riflescope (Raven's Pass), who took the Listed Dragon Stakes; plus Shamardal duo Midlander and Miniaturist.
Trained for Godolphin by Saeed bin Suroor, Tha’Ir won the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot at two. This was his second victory of 2015, having landed the competitive Jaguar F Type Trophy at Meydan during the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Tha’Ir was bred by Lodge Park Stud and is out of the winning Green Desert mare Flashing Green, also dam of Group-placed Stakes winner Flashing Colour. They are from the family of the G1 winner and great producer Colorspin.
New Approach, sire of four G1 winners to date including 2,000 Guineas victor Dawn Approach and Oaks heroine Talent, is also sire this year of recent 16-length Stakes winner Connecticut, plus Group-placed duo Beautiful Romance and Elliptique.
