Al Suhail (Dubawi) became the latest Group winner for his sire when taking the G2 Challenge Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket on Friday, 8 October.
A Stakes winner last season and placed in Group company at this meeting two years previous, Al Suhail put up a dominate display, breaking well and making all under jockey William Buick. Going away at the two furlong marker, the four-year-old put the race to bed in a matter of strides, winning comfortably by three and a half lengths.
Bred by Meon Valley Stud and purchased at the Tattersalls Book 1 yearling sale for 1,100,000gns, Al Suhail is a half-brother to the Listed-winning Starcaster and New Approach’s dual G2 winner Telecaster. They are out of the G1 performer Shirocco Star (Shirocco), herself out of a winning half-sister to G3 winner and Classic-placed France.
Al Suhail is the 33rd Stakes winner this season for his phenomenal sire Dubawi who enjoyed significant success last weekend with his tenacious son Space Blues landing the G1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp. Further Black Type winners this season include G2 Great Voltigeur victor Yibir and the G1 Summer Stakes-winning juvenile Albahr, himself the 45th individual G1 winner for Dubawi.
