Slickly, one of France’s leading stallions, sired a new Stakes horse on Saturday November 12, when his juvenile son Mobaco took the step up in class in his stride to win the Prix Delahante at Marseille-Borely. Now a winner of five of his eight career starts, he was the easy five-length winner for his owner Jean-Claude Seroul, who has a tremendous record with the progeny of Slicky, having already owned other Stakes winners; Gris de Gris, Libertador and Splendido.
Mobaco, like the list above, where all bred by Jean-Claude Seroul, and he is out of Lunaa (Anabaa), who was twice Stakes-placed over the same course as today’s triumph.
Slickly, a four-time G1-winner, has been one of France's leading homegrown stallions since retiring to stud. This season he has sired the 124-rated Grand Prix de Paris hero Meandre, as well as having progeny sell for up to €240,000 at Deauville.
