Exceed And Excel recorded a new Group winner on Friday, 25 January when his son Secret Ambition ran out the easy winner of the G3 Jebel Ali Mile in the UAE.
Settled in third under Richard Mullen during the early stages of the race, Secret Ambition reeled in the long-time leader Just A Penny at the two-furlong marker and soon moved clear, eventually winning by a length and three quarters.
This was the eighth career victory for Satish Seemar’s charge, who was also second in the G3 Burj Nahaar at Meydan last March.
Secret Ambition is out of the Singspiel mare Inner Secret, making him a half-brother to Raven’s Pass’s G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Royal Marine, plus fellow Black Type winner Crystal River (Dubawi). The mare is herself a half-sister to G1 winners Dubai Destination and Librettist, plus multiple Group winner Secret Number (Raven’s Pass).
Exceed And Excel enjoyed another successful year in 2018, siring G1 Hong Kong Sprint winner Mr Stunning, who was beaten just a neck in last weekend’s G1 Centenary Sprint Cup.
Exceed And Excel stands at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €50,000, Oct 1, SLF.
