The Richard Hannon-trained debutant Libranno may have jumped from the gate as a 25/1 outsider but this didn’t stop the son of Darley first-season sire Librettist running his rivals ragged on the Rowley Mile, leading from start to finish to score in the six-furlong EBF Maiden.
The first foal of the Singspiel mare Annabelle Ja, herself a winner at two, Libranno was bred by O McDowell and now races in the name of McDowell Racing, for whom he landed a Racing Post Yearling Bonus prize of £10,000 for his dogged win.
Libranno is the second winner for the Haras du Logis resident Librettist, a son of Danzig who is also the sire of Little Libretto, a five-furlong winner at Nottingham on 7 April.
