Manduro’s progressive son Duretto again impressed when coming from the rear of the field to land the Listed Stand Cup at Chester, quickening clear off a slow early pace. The winner of the G3 St Simon Stakes last season, this was only his second start of the year after a close third in the G3 Ormonde Stakes at this course back in May. He has now won five of his 16 starts with all of his last five runs coming at Stakes level after successfully graduating from handicaps.
Owned and bred by Lord Blyth, he is out of the multiple Stakes-winning mare Landinium (Lando), who hails from the extended family of German G1-winning filly Hollywood Dream.
Just last weekend Vazirbad cemented his position of France’s top stayer when landing the G3 Prix Gladiateur. Manduro has also sired this season G2-winner Time To Choose, Classic heroine High As A Kite, and the G1-winning juvenile Ultra, who showed he retained all his ability when landing the Prix Jacques Laffitte at Maisons-Laffitte.
