Second Stakes victory for Trudeau
Exceed And Excel's son Trudeau returned to the racecourse in winning fashion on November 11 (having won the Listed Garden City Trophy at the final start of his last preparation), recording back-to-back Stakes victories when landing the Listed EW Barker Trophy over seven furlongs at Kranji in Singapore.
Settling in third position on the rail behind the leader, jockey A’Isisuhairi 'Harry' Kasim produced Bruce Marsh's charge at just the right time to chase down the leaders and defeat Holy Empire by three-quarters of a length with Elusive Quality gelding Mr Big holding on for third.
Bred by Darley in Australia, Trudeau is out of the Kris mare Canadian Legacy, a sister to the G2 winner Hawajiss, herself a half-sister to the dams of fellow Listed winners Dirty and Torumba, as well as to the dam of G3 winner Fast Company. This is also the family of this season’s New Zealand G1 winner Nashville.
Sire of 76 Stakes winner worldwide, including G1 winners Guelph, Outstrip, Overreach and Excelebration, Exceed And Excel will stand the 2014 season at Dalham Hall at a fee of £35,000, while his triple G1-winning son Helmet will relocate to Dalham Hall for next year and will stand at a fee of £8,000.
