Coronet, winner of the G2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot last season, landed her second G2 on Thursday, 17 May when taking the Middleton Stakes at York. The daughter of Dubawi, who was making her seasonal debut, was held up early before making stealthy headway in the straight. Moving to the front two furlongs from home, she ran all the way to the line to win by one-and-a-half lengths from Horseplay (Cape Cross).
Now the winner of four of her ten starts, as well as winning at Royal Ascot last season Coronet was placed at the highest level in the Yorkshire Oaks, British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes and the Prix Saint-Alary.
Owned and bred by Denford Stud, she is a half-sister to the Classic performer Midas Touch and out of the Stakes-winning mare Approach, who herself is a daughter of Last Second and from the family of Aussie Rules, Allegretto and Alborada.
Coronet is one of 97 Group winners sired by Dubawi, 35 of which have won at the highest level. He has already sired 28 Stakes performers in 2018 including Dubai top-flight winners Benbatl and North America, the recently retired Wuheida, who landed the G2 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, and Group scorers Jordan Sport, Kitesurf and Soliloquy.
