Son of Kheleyf wires Stakes race at Monmouth Park

Five-year-old Sayif, by Kheleyf, was much the best July 9 in the one mile Battlefield Stakes at Monmouth Park. Sayif broke sharply and took command at the front to create a comfortable margin. The son of Kheleyf's lead was never challenged, and Sayif went wire-to-wire to effortlessly score in the turf event.

Bred by Crandon Park Stud, Sayif is out of the Rudimentary mare Sewards Folly. He is a half-brother to G3 Cornwallis Stakes victor Hunter Street. A 200,000 guinea yearling, Sayif's first Stakes victory was at age three in the G2 Diadem Stakes at Ascot. He has placed in four other Group events, including the G1 Middle Park Stakes.

A son of Green Desert, Kheleyf was the leading first season sire of his year. He is the sire of eight Listed winners and twenty black type runners, including G3 winner Percolator. Kheleyf stands at Dalham Hall Stud in England for £4,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
